Black History Moment

Well... it's February which is also known as "BLACK HISTORY MONTH". To the majority of the African American community this month is very special and significant. To others and or others races maybe not so much. Please share one of your favorite moments in Black History whether it be past or present. Also speak if Black History Month is important to you or not.

I worked as a Case Manager in a Senior Housing facility, and during the month of February each resident made a quilt and told thier most memorable story one man who could not read or write remembered at 13 going to watch MLK march through the town, another remebered seeing muhammad ali and wanting his autograph, but could not because other races where talking to him. He stated that muhammad ali, told the crowd of "other" to step back and let the African American boys about 7 ages 13-15 come forward and get thier autographs. Truly a WOW moment, I miss that quilt. We hung it in the recreation room of the building, and every time I passed it, I thought about the stories it told and the struggles they overcame. Thanks for asking.

My 92 yr young mother get to see a black man and his family in the White House once in 2008 and again in 2012. We both watched history in the making both time together. I am so bless that I get to see it with my mother.
